  • Let’s Debunk Organ Meat

If you would have told me a year ago that I would start eating organ meat regularly. I most certainly would have laughed and called you crazy.

Last summer, my family and I went to The Homestead Festival in Columbia, TN and had the best time ever! The festival took place at Rory Feek’s homestead, complete with gardens, livestock, and even a one room schoolhouse where his daughter attends. It was the most amazing experience to get to learn from people that have made homesteading their way of life. I wont spoil too much here, go read more in my Homestead Festival post!

At The Homestead Festival, we came across Pluck organ meat seasoning. I was skeptical, of course. Organ meat usually doesn’t sound appetizing to most people, but what if you couldn’t event taste it? You probably wouldn’t even know it was there!

I was offered to try some on a piece of homemade bread with ghee spread on it. After a light sprinkle of Pluck and a small bite for my unsure mind and stomach, my world was changed forever. I thought about Pluck every. single. day. for about 2 months until I finally ordered some. I even dreamt about it once or twice. Yep, you read that right. I had dreams about organ meat.

Now, I use Pluck in everything! The all-purpose flavor is my favorite, but they also offer zesty garlic, spicy, and pure versions. I use the all-purpose Pluck in dishes such as tacos, spaghetti, BBQ chicken or even on snacks such as popcorn, veggie sticks, or in dips! The flavor is savory, a little salty, and per their favorite word on the website, umami!

Now, what can organ meat do for you?

Organ meat is one of the most nutrient-rich foods around. Pluck contains tons of necessary nutrients that our bodies need:

    • Vitamin D
    • Iron
    • Vitamin A
    • Vitamin K
    • Riboflavin
    • Vitamin B6
    • Phosphorus
    • Zinc
    • Calcium
    • Potassium
    • Vitamin C
    • Thiamin
    • Vitamin B12
    • Magnesium
    • Copper
    • Sodium
    • Fiber
    • Protein

Name another food that can give you all those things. I dare you to try!

If you’re interested in trying organ meat for its amazing nutritional value, I definitely recommend starting with Pluck. Just by adding a pinch of Pluck seasoning to one meal each day will have you well-nourished!

One of my favorite things about Pluck is that it is ethically and sustainably sourced, certified organic, and the cows that the organ meat comes from are living a wonderful life!

“We source our organs from small, regenerative farms in New Zealand. Cattle roam free from grassland to grassland, grazing on non-GMO grass as nature intended. This means, no feedlots or fertilizers. Rich, healthy soil supporting nutrient-rich grass, which gets transferred into the cattle and then into you. A perfect, full circle of cattle and humans working with nature to support human health and the health of our planet.” Eatpluck.com
