This recipe is identical to my normal sourdough recipe, except you add jalapeños and cheese!
You can use fresh or pickled jalapeños, whichever fits your preference. I used fresh because we had some ready in the garden. I also used sharp cheddar cheese cut into small cubes to fold into the dough.
Basically, the only step you’ll add to the normal sourdough process is adding your sliced peppers and cheese cubes in your 2nd stretch and fold phase. That’s it!
Generally, you want to use enough peppers and cheese that equals 20% of your dough’s total weight. So if your dough weighs 600g, you’ll use 60g peppers and 60g cheese to equal 120g. I ended up using two whole peppers and about 3/4 a block of cheese and it came out so flavorful and moist!
This loaf baked the exact same as the other recipe too! I’m telling you, it’s THAT easy to have beautiful flavored sourdough loaves!
