I’ve been doing a TON of baking recently to try to use up my sourdough discard. It feels like such a waste to just toss it! This loaf cake came out so moist and flavorful!
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup sourdough discard
- 1 1/4 cup strawberries (or more depending on your taste)
- 6 oz softened cream cheese
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg yolk
Steps:
- In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.
- Add in wet ingredients and combine well. Fold in strawberries.
- Grease a loaf pan and pour half the batter into the pan, spreading out evenly.
- Mix together cream cheese, sugar, and egg. Add on top of the batter in pan.
- Top with remaining batter and spread evenly to cover cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle top with sugar and bake at 375 degrees for one hour or until set and golden brown.
